Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation is a system of school based evaluation of a student that covers all aspects of student's development. It is both continuous and comprehensive. It is continuous in the sense that it lays stress on regularity of assessment, frequency of unit testing, diagnosis of learning gaps, use of corrective measures, retesting and feedback of evidence to teachers and students for their self evaluation. Comprehensive means that it covers both the scholastic and the co-scholastic aspects of the student's development and growth. Since the very introduction of the system, the School follows it in word and spirit with the time to time changes being brought in by the C.B.S.E.

Scholastic Assessment is both Formative and Summative.
Formative Assessment

It is a tool used by the teacher to continuously monitor student progress in a non- threatening, supportive environment. It is used to get a feed back into the teaching and learning process. The School uses Unit Test, Assignments, Quizzes and Competitions, Projects, Debates, Elocution, Group Discussions, Club Activities, Experiments and Research as techniques of assessment under Formative Assessment. ( The teacher is also allowed to invent techniques suitable to the situation.)

It is not compulsory that all these techniques must be used for a Formative Assessment. Normally, a Formative Assessment consists of four activities and each activity is evaluated out of 10 and then the marks scored for all the four are added together and the total is found out of 40 and accordingly grade is awarded. To be specific, for Classes I to VIII, every Formative Assessment consists of a Unit Test and any other three techniques given above selected as per the discretion of the teacher. Classes IX and X have only three Formative Assessments, which involves a Unit Test and any three other activities selected from among the list given above at the discretion of the teacher and, the fourth Formative Assessment is replaced by the Problem Solving Assessment (P S A) introduced by the C B S E, which is normally conducted in the month of January, every year. The academic year is divided into two Semesters and each Semester will have two Formative Assessments.

Summative Assessment

It is generally taken at the end of a Semester to find out the "sum" of what they have learned or what they have not learned. It is a pen and paper exam and is generally taken between September 15 and September30 (Summative Assessment I) and March1 and March 25(Summative Assessment II). Summative Assessment or Semester Examination is compulsory for all students.

Co-Scholastic Assessment

The desirable behaviour related to learner's life skills, attitudes, interests, values, co-curricular activities and physical health are the skills to be acquired in co-scholastic domain. Therefore, Life Skills, Work Education, Visual and Performing Arts and Co-Curricular Activities are also assessed as part of C C E.
